At Minnkota Power Cooperative, our power is our people. Minnkota’s mission is driven by more than 400 knowledgeable and skilled employees. Our diverse team works together to bring reliable, low-cost electric energy to northwestern Minnesota and eastern North Dakota.

Minnkota employs engineers, electrical line workers, power plant personnel, electricians, accountants and many other positions needed to manage our unique and evolving business.

Minnkota’s employees work in facilities in two North Dakota communities. Corporate headquarters are located in Grand Forks, N.D., and the primary source of electric generation is the Milton R. Young Station, a power plant located near Center, N.D., 35 miles northwest of Bismarck, N.D.

For more than 80 years, Minnkota has been energizing homes, farms, schools and businesses. And the future is bright. Benefits

Minnkota Power Cooperative supports employees through a strong total compensation package that includes a competitive pay and benefits package, along with career growth opportunities. The cooperative offers medical, dental, 401(k), pension, paid leave, life and accidental death insurance, and long-term disability.

Medical insurance

Employees and their families are eligible for coverage through Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota on the first of the month following the start of employment.
Minnkota offers a High-Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) with a Health Savings Account (HSA) program, which allows users to save money tax-free against medical expenses.

Dental insurance

Employees and their families are eligible for coverage through Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota. The plan goes into effect the first of the month following the start of employment.

Vision insurance

Employees and their families are eligible for coverage through Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota. The plan goes into effect the first of the month following the start of employment.

401(k)

Minnkota offers a traditional 401(k) and matches a percentage of the employee's contribution. A Roth 401(k) option is also offered.

Pension plan

Minnkota contributes an amount equal to a percentage of an employee's base pay.
Employees are eligible to participate after one year of service in which at least 1,000 hours were worked.
Employees are fully vested after three years of service.

Life insurance and AD&D

Employees are eligible for life and accidental death and dismemberment insurance equal to two times their base salary. The plan goes into effect the first of the month following the start of employment.
Minnkota pays 100% of the premium.

Long-term disability insurance

Insurance provides up to 60% of an employee's income after a 90-day waiting period. The plan goes into effect the first of the month following the start of employment.
Minnkota pays 100% of the premium.
